I recently found out that regular chocolate, candy bars etc and even dark chocolate that I love contains milk! Being that I am trying to avoid dairy, that was a shocker and a no no for me. So I decided to make my own! How hard can it be right!?
I got some Filipino and brazilian 100% cacao from a friend randomly and decided this was my chance to try out a new recipe. By the way I did try the 100% cacao with no sugar in it and it was very bitter. Terrible actually! I could barely swallow it haha!
So with this recipe I wanted to make a dark chocolate. I wasn’t going for milk chocolate. I didn’t want it very sweet. I am trying to reduce sugar intake and this treat was meant for satisfying my sweet craving or to be used as chocolate chips toppings or in baking. So feel free to add more sugar to your liking
So without further ado, here is the recipe!
Ingredients
- 1oz 100% cacao (bar not powder)
- 2 Tbsps. Organic granulated cane sugar
- 4 tbsps almond milk
- Parchment paper
- Any pan or bowl
Instructions
- In a small pot heat cacao over low heat to not burn chocolate.
- As chocolate melts, add in sugar and milk slowly. If more milk is needed to get consistency desired then added slowly or you will get chocolate milk or fudge.
- Stir to consistency. Once melted together turn off heat. And pour into parchment paper lined pan and freeze x 24 hrs.
Enjoy as is or break into chocolate chips!
