What is a Doula?! The most popular question I get is “What is a doula and what does a doula do?” A doula is by greek definition means servant. In this context is means a woman who serves another woman who is in labor.
Why is a doula important? Doulas are trained labor support companions who provide continuous emotional, physical and informational support to laboring women. They don’t leave your side! Which can really make a difference when many different nurses and doctors are in and out of the birth room. Many research studies have shown that with a doula women have : shorter labors by 50%, reduced need for inductions (or use of Pitocin) , reduced need for forceps, vacuums and Cesarean sections, better feelings about their partners, reduced use of epidurals and pain medications and improved feelings about the birth experience! With a doula by your side, studies have shown improved success with breastfeeding, and reduced chances of postpartum depression.

The Birth PT Program:
- 3 prenatal visits/phone calls focusing on your birth plan, breathing techniques, birth positions, visual imagery, relaxation techniques and pros and cons of medical procedures so you can make informed decisions
- On call from 38 weeks
- weekly text messages to check in
- I will attend your birth in person
- I will be there until you are in recovery or up to 2 hours after birth
- Then I will check on you within 24 hrs via phone call and pay you a visit in your first week or check in via phone.
- Rate $1200
