If you dont know me, my name is Dr. Alison and I’m a physical therapist and doula who naturally loves to encourage people!

I have found whole food plant based eating to help me and wanted to share with others and help you all on your journey!

Being a physical therapist helps me in coaching you! We are taught in our doctoral program about nutrition and lifestyle medicine to help empower and rehab clients preventively to reduce or restore function!

Personally I struggled with inflammation, gut changes, chronic back pain, depression, anxiety, constipation, abdominal pain for years after my pregnancies. Trying everything including pelvic floor PT only helped a bit but not completely. No one ever addressed diet or stress and only prescribed medication which led to additional medications to fight side effects of those medications. A rabbit hole. I was lost and frustrated.

Through my studies to help my clients feel better and myself as well I came across plant based eating as a lifestyle vs a diet plan. I decided to give it a try. I did a 30 day challenge to eliminate sugar and processed foods and only eat whole foods. I eliminated dairy and meat as well. I admit I did cheat a bit but got back up and kept going. At then end of the 30 days I evaluated my results. I lost 4 inches off my waist line, no back pain, no sugar cravings, better mood and lost 5 lbs, no constipation or abdominal pain! Wow!! I decided to keep going with the diet/lifestyle with gentler modifications. I did allow some sugar and processed foods but it wasn’t the bulk of my diet any longer.

So if this helped me I know it can help others!

I like to coach where you are. Not everyone is ready to go cold turkey. Some people like a more gradual approach. I’m here for you! If you are a newbie to plant based eating then this is for you!


Postnatal Depletion

After we give birth to our babies the body mind and soul quickly change. Our hormones are fluctuating especially progesterone and estrogen. Our digestive system is weakened and we are depleted of key nutrients! This can show up in many forms like:

  • depression
  • fatigue
  • mood swings
  • hyper vigilance
  • feelings of overwhelm
  • anxiety

This can happen not just in the first 40 days after giving birth but up to 10 years post delivery! Moms in today’s modern society are not recovering well and thrusted back in to the work force or caring for their families with little to no help or guidance.

That is why I am still a doula and PT and holistic practitioner. I aim to serve moms to rebalance their hormones, give their bodies a better whole food plant based nutrition and teach ways to remove physical and emotional toxins/stress from their lives all while improving self care/self love/purpose. Healing is multi dimensional.
